This program is available to children under the age of 18 with a documented developmental disability and where the individual requiring this level of service has complex needs. Clients and their families will have been identified by service providers as requiring extensive/intensive service and increased collaboration that goes beyond the capacity of the 1st tier level of service.
• This program was started in October 2006 to give more support to individuals and families who are dealing with very difficult situations.
• It is a 2nd tier level of service for families who are in receipt of other DSS services.
• The staff works with families where there is a high risk of family breakdown, risk of harm to self or others, risk to school placement, significant behavioural difficulties and respite needs and/or crisis situations.
• The service is flexible, creative, responsive and individualized.
• A signed service agreement outlining goals is agreed upon between the family and the staff.
